Tiffany Logsdon, 2nd Grade Math Teacher at Livermore Elementary School, will be utilizing the Relfex Educator Grant Program for the 2014-15 academic year. Janet Penrod submitted the application for this grant.  The grant is valued at $1625.00 and is an online based program.

ExploreLearning Reflex is a revolutionary research-based system that enables students of all abilities in grades 2-8 to develop instant, effortless recall of math facts in all four operations.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grant

Livermore Elementary wishes to say "Thank You" to Mr. Crowe for applying for the Dollar General Grant.  Livermore School received a $2000.00 grant that will be used to purchase library books and classroom subscriptions to the Ranger Rick magazine.

McLean County Public Schools proudly announces the implementation of the “Safety Tipline Online Prevention” or STOP! Tipline.   The STOP! Tipline is designed for use as an "online" reporting/prevention tool which is provided free by the Kentucky Center for School Safety.   If students, parents or community members know of an unsafe situation in school (bullying, weapons, drugs or alcohol, etc.), they can anonymously pass on that information to school personnel by using this basic email format.

County-Wide Back to School Bash

The County-Wide Back to School Bash is scheduled for Saturday, July 26th, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the McLean County High School gym.  This event is open to Parents & Students of Kindergarten through 12th grade students who will be attending McLean County Schools this Fall.

Free school supplies and food will be available in addition to county church/business and informational booths.

Christmas for Kids will be hosting a Chicken sale.  Whole chickens will be available for sale by 10:00 a.m.

SBDM Parent Election

SBDM Parent Elections will be held on May 22, 2014 at 6:00 pm in the school cafeteria..  Nominations may be submittted to Livermore School until May 21 at 3:30 pm. If you have a child enrolled at Livermore Elementary next year (2014-15), you are eligible to vote in this election. Results of the election will be announced on May 22, 2014 at 6:15 pm in the school cafeteria.  Thank you for your interest in our school.

MCHS Blood Drive

There will be a blood drive by the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center at McLean County High School, Friday, April 25, 8 AM – 3 PM.  Anyone wishing to be a donor should call the high school office (270-273-5257) and schedule their time slot.  All donors will receive a t-shirt for their donation.

 

Donor guidelines: All donors must be at least 17 or 16 years old with consent (available in the high school office), weigh at least 110 pounds, donors must check medications with center staff, donors should have eaten a good meal prior to donation, and must allow 56 days between donations.

Harley Caraway Wows Crowd at Diddle Arena

McLean County High School freshman Harley Caraway stunned the crowd at the Kentucky Girls' State Tournament in Bowling Green on Wednesday night with a beautiful a capella performance of the national anthem.  After submitting a demo recording, Harley was chosen from among hundreds of students from across the state to perform at the KHSAA Girls' Sweet Sixteen.  Following the performance, basketball fans from across the state showed their appreciation for a job well done and she was asked by tournament organizers to please consider performing again in the future.  McLean County Public Schools are extremely proud of Harley and the way that she represented our district in this state event.

MCHS Rock-A-Teens Radio Show

 

 

MCHS Rock-A-Teens Grayson Bryant, Chloe Dempsey, Gretchen Vandiver, and Emily Burden will be guests on the "Good Ole Morning Show" on WBIO. 94.7 this Friday at 8:00 a.m. Each student will have an opportunity to sing live his or her songs that they will perform during the Saturday February 22nd show with Marty Brown. Listeners can tune in to 94.7 FM radio or enjoy via computer by logging on WBIO.com.

 Rock-A-Teens' next performance will be Saturday February 22nd at 12:00 noon in the auditorium of McLean County High School. Tickets are available for $5 in the front office of MCHS from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Updated Basketball Schedule

On Saturday December 21st a wind storm damaged a portion of the High School's gym roof that caused water to leak onto the gym floor and other areas around the gym. The gym floor received major water damage. The reminder of the High School's home games scheduled for 2013-14 basketball season will be played at alternate locations.

Livermore School Honors Veterans

Livermore Elementary held their annual Veterans Day program.  The MCHS ROTC presented the colors and Courtney Smith (former Livermore student) sang our national anthem.  Livermore Mayor Sonny Renfrow spoke about the number 11 (Armistice - 11th hour of 11th day of 11th month), who is a veteran, the motto of each branch of the military, the flag and honoring  veterans.  Students from the 5th grade classes sang America the Beautiful and read poems honoring and thanking veterans.  There was a time of individudal recognition for the veterans as they stood with their Livermore student(s). Following the program the veterans were invited to enjoy breakfast and spend some time talking with one another.

The McLean County Judge/Executive, Sheriff and the Mayors of the Cities of Calhoun, Island, Livermore and Sacramento have jointly agreed to move the celebration of Halloween to Friday November 1st. This decision is based on the National Weather Service’s forecast for severe weather during the afternoon and early evening of Thursday October 31st. and in the interest of the safety of the Children of McLean County.

October Clubs Today was club day!  Please check out some of the happenings from today on the picture banner above.  Students were dancing to the Monster Mash, making button bracelets, learning the Cupid Shuffle, learning a Spanish Dance, getting pages ready for their scrapbooks, learning to play some new board games, challenging one another in checkers, making a robot by recycling items, doing nail care and painting, being dramatic, painting, drawing, becoming percussionists, dribbling basketballs, and building with Legos.  There were many more activities taking place, but time didn't allow us to capture them all with a camera.  Please watch for next month's photos!!

50th Day Celebration On Thursday October 24th Livermore Elementary School will enjoy the 50th day of school!  As a part of the celebration students will be involved in activities in the classroom that focus on the number 50. Everyone is encouraged to wear 50s style clothing on that day.  There will be an assembly in the gym at 1:30pm.  The students will perform various dances from that time period and the Paragon prizes will also be awarded.  Everyone is welcome  to attend!

Preschool/Head Start Registration

The Preschool and Head Start Program is currently taking applications for the 2014-2015 school year.  These programs serve three and four year old children who qualify based on income or disability status.  If you have a three or four year old child and are interested in determining their eligibility for the program or would like more information, please contact the Family Advocates, Leah Jones (Calhoun and Sacramento) at 270-273-0094 or Bethanney McPherson (Livermore) at 270-278-9693.


Kindergarten Pre-Registration

Any parent who has a child that will be 5 years old by October 1, 2014, and will be starting Kindergarten this fall is asked to pre-register their child if they have not already done so.  Pre-registration can be completed in the office at the school the child will attend Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  If available, please bring your child's birth certificate and social security card.


Graduation Date Set By School Board

Last Day for Students May 28th.  Graduation set for Thursday, May 29th.
