Registration deadline for October ACT is September . Ask Mrs. Spear about the fee waiver offered for students who are on free/reduced lunches.

Review transcript and courses to be sure you have met all requirements for graduation and for your particular college admissions or technical school admissions. Narrow down your listsof schools. Request applications from schools early.

College Fair is held on TBA . This is a fantastic opportunity to talk to numerous college representatives from Kentucky and surrounding states. Please check the calendar often for opportunities.

Paying for College (Scholarship information, discussion of college applications, etc.) at MCHS Oct. 22nd with Cassie Clark at 6PM.

ACT here at MCHS Oct.  starting at 7:45am

College VISITS!!!! Make final contacts with admission representatives. As a senior, you have one college day. You must make arrangements in advance with Mrs. Spear and bring form back signed to Mrs. Boisture from the school you visited. We recommend taking college days the first semester.

Request teacher and counselor recommendations. Provide a copy of you ILP so your recommendation can be personalized.


Complete Early Action/Early Decision applications. Many merit based scholarship applications are due at this time, also prepare for and take the ACT/SAT. Be sure you have scores sent to your top schools.

Make contact with recruiting officers for military options. Apply for ROTC options at various colleges. Sit for Boards for military academies.

December 2nd at  6PM    FAFSA Workshop - discussion with seniors and parents on How to fill out the FAFSA

December  ACT at high school starting at 7:45AM

Write essays and complete applications for colleges with January/February deadlines.

Finalize references and turn ILP into a working resume.

Students and parents can submit FAFSA. Send in early, March 15th is priority deadline for Kentucky. The early you fill the FAFSA out the more likely you are to receive Financial Aid. FAFSA also qualifies you for certain financial aid (federal & state), college scholarships, local scholarships, and grants (federal & state).

Attend Computer Help Night to fill out the FAFSA at MCHS Jan.6th at 6:00pm with Cassie Clark from KHEAA as guess speaker.

Continue searching for scholarships. Contact colleges and technical schools directly for financial aid.

Be sure all necessary information is sent to colleges. Follow up on your application packet.

You will begin to receive financial aid awards letters. Perhaps you should re-visit your top college choices.

Local scholarships begin in March. A PDF application or website for most scholarships will be under the financial aid section of this web page.

Choose a school that fits your needs. Review financial aid package and talk with financial aid officers. Notify college of your decision to attend and send deposit.

Thank teachers who wrote recommendation letters. Notify colleges you did not choose so they can admit others.

If you were awarded a scholarship be sure to write a thank you note to the donor. You may obtain the address from Mrs. Spear.

Make final preparation contacts for military service.

Go by the guidance office and put the name of the college/technical school where you plan attend on the sign-up sheet.
