This class is a study of the American Governmental system. We examine the Constitution, Bill of Rights, the branches of government, elections, public policy, and state and local government. The examination is accomplished through inquiry, discussion, and the use of simulations to provide hands-on examples of the ideas related to American Government. Students also develop skills in gaining information from a textbook, use of the Media Center and research skills, persuasive writing skills, as well as public speaking and debate skills. Students should hopefully come away with an appreciation of our Constitution as well as our Federal System of Governance.
